Selecting Better Pets

After we started thinking more seriously about expanding our family, my husband brought up the idea of getting a pet or two. While I was completely against the concept at first, I realized that it might be helpful for our children to warm up to the idea before having another sibling. We got a dog and our kids were tasked with the job of feeding it every day and doing other tasks, and it was amazing to see how much the animal helped our family to grow. Pets can be a wonderful addition to a home, which is why I made this blog. Check out these fun pet posts.

Does Your Dog Need Frequent Grooming? Choose Free-Roam Grooming

Natalie Baker

If your dog needs frequent grooming, this can get stressful for them and you. One option you have is free-roam grooming. Below is information on what this is, the different types available, and the benefits of choosing this for your dog.

Free-Roam Grooming

When you take your dog to a standard groomer, they often put your dog in a crate until it is their turn to be groomed. If you stay, you will have to keep your dog with you on a leash during the wait time. With free-roam grooming, your dog is not kept in a crate but instead is allowed to roam free while they are waiting for their turn.

Types of Free-Roam Grooming

Groomers set up their free-roam grooming establishments in different ways. Some section off a large area of their building for the dogs. If so, they may only allow a certain number of dogs to be there at one time.

Some free-roam groomers set up an area outside for the dogs to run and play while they wait. If so, the area will be fenced in and secure so you will not have to worry about your dog getting out. The groomer may have sectioned areas so they can put dogs of the same personality together. They may also put larger dogs in one area and smaller dogs in another. No matter how they do this, toys are often provided to keep the dogs busy.

You will likely be required to show the owner proof that your dog has been vaccinated. Get this information from your vet if you do not have it. This will include their yearly rabies shot in many cases.

Free-Roam Grooming Benefits

There are many benefits of choosing free-roam grooming. The main one is your dog will be much happier. This puts a lot less stress on your dog when they are at their groomer. You may find when you say the word "groomer" your dog will get excited.

Choosing free-roam grooming also provides benefits for you. You will feel much less stress while your dog is at the groomer knowing they are happy. You will also have a much happier dog when you pick them up.
